Bright, colourful quizzes

Our quiz platform supports a range of different ways of asking questions (multiple choice and keyword) and supports a number of alternative marking schemes. Quiz questions may also include supplementary html blocks (html is the language used for writing web pages) and jpeg/gif images to ensure a rich quiz experience and greater flexibility in question formulation.

From a pupil's perspective, this adds to the colour and excitement of the quiz process, helping to stimulate pupil's interest and add more fun to learning about safety.

From a teaching perspective, this rich environment allows us to ask questions that are difficult to phrase using text only and to ask questions with a higher information content (for example asking children to identify the warning sign for an electricity substation from a set of choices).

Automatic quiz marking

Automatic marking means that a pupil's score can be viewed the moment the quiz has been completed. Instant feedback adds to the excitement of the quiz taking experience and allows any misconceptions to be challenged immediately.

Quiz Transcript Review

Our quiz transcript review screens allow pupils and teachers to review in detail all of a pupil's answers to any quiz. Both the answers given by the pupil and the correct answers are shown alongside the question, providing an ideal opportunity to reinforce learning.

The quiz result tracking facility allows you to query our quiz results database to examine any of the quiz results already obtained by candidates from your organization.

Our intelligent quiz tracking interface supports filtering and sorting operations to help you get at the data you need.

All access is provided via simple, password protected, easy to use pages.

Navigation aids and question maps

Like most web sites our web pages provide navigation aids that make it easy to move around the Flying Colours website by simply clicking on the appropriate icons.

Our intelligent user interface provides additional support to help ensure that pupils can focus on giving a true reflection of their knowledge in the quiz topic instead of worrying about how to operate the software.

An example of one such tool we provide is the colour-coded question map which allows pupils to easily navigate through a quiz by simply clicking on the question number they wish to visit next. The colour-coding of the question map also helps pupils to remember which questions have been answered and which have not.

Configurable Reports

Our configurable report pages allow printable reports of all quiz scores obtained by pupils through your safety training organization.

The data for the reports can optionally be filtered using a number of criteria, for example you can include only scores for pupils from a particular local authority or from a particular school or even from a particular class.

On screen options allow you to make further configuration choices such as whether averages will be calculated and printed at various levels within the report, for example class averages, school averages, quiz averages etc.

Secure Database

We've taken great care to ensure that the data we hold in our database is safe and secure. As well as adopting standard security precautions to protect your account and password, we have structured our database to ensure that each client only has access to their own data.

As a further security measure we store simple identification numbers (1,2,3 etc) assigned to pupils who take quizzes instead of storing pupil names in our database.

This approach allows us to be sure that pupils will always remain individually anonymous as far as our web-site is concerned. We never store any information that could be used to identify an individual pupil. Instead, teachers maintain a separate offline record of which numbers correspond to which pupils (perhaps based on the class register for example).

Security

We use industry standard internet security protocols (such as https and SSL2) to help ensure that your passwords remain confidential and that your information is only accessible to authorised web-site users from your own organization.

Simple Administration Screens

The administration screens are simple and easy to use. Setting up user details and adding visit information is straightforward, saving time and effort.

Once entered, your booking information is readily accessible providing a convenient online record of safety training bookings, including selected scenarios etc.

Context Sensitive Help

Context sensitive help screens are available on every page and for every stage of the quiz, review and administration process.

Clicking on the help icon reveals relevant information to help guide users smoothly through each process.
